Philip Marlowe and Social Media

For this assignment you will adopt the following premise:Philip Marlowe, Raymond Chandler’s famous private detective, has been transplanted to the year 2016. He is still distinguished by thesame dry wit, cynicism, chivalry, street smarts, and tough talk that helped him survive the bleak world of 1930’s, crime-addled,corrupt and morally forsaken Los Angeles. But, as a man “completely of his time”, he also understands the value and importance ofkeeping a strong social media presence. For this project you will create a Facebook page, a Twitter account, or perhaps an Instagramfeed, or some other social media outlet, in the persona of Philip Marlowe. You will use your chosen medium to help tell the story of arecent case you’ve been investigating, to attract new clients, to post dank memes, or perhaps just to share your thoughts and life withyour fans and followers.Whatever medium you choose, there should be roughly ~300 words of total written text. The texts should abide by the conventions andexpectations of your chosen medium and reflect and understanding of how people use social media to communicate in the modern world. Youshould also be mindful to try to think and write in a way that reflects an understanding of who Philip Marlowe is, his outlook on theworld, and his particular set of moral and aesthetic values. Be true to both the form and the subject.Keep in mind that you don’t have to create an actual social media account in Marlowe’s name, rather just mimic what that account mightlook like and upload your project.
