What do you think are the leading causes of police officers to violate their ethical/moral beliefs?

This assignment will be in the form of a research paper. For those of you who have not done a research paper, I will give you a topic question or issue. It is your job to conduct your own research on it within the parameters of the topic question or issue and provide your own educated opinion on it. The topic for this assignment is: What do you think are the leading causes of police officers to violate their ethical/moral beliefs? In other words, what do you think are the leading causes of police corruption?Review all the material that has been provided to you throughout the course this year, especially the supplementary readings. Discuss in your research paper the following:1) What frames police officers ethics/morals: whether it be police academy training, personal beliefs (parents/religion), or a police culture2) What causes police officers to violate their beliefs – e.g. what causes them to be unethical or corrupt: whether it be inherent racism, the police culture (the \”thin blue line\” of loyalty), economic greed, stresses of the job, etc.Conduct your own research. There is a wealth of information online as well as in the library that discusses the topic. A simple Google search should bring you in the right direction – from there, choose several primary sources that support your theories on which are the primary motivators that cause police officers to violate their own \”code of ethics\”.Please ground your discussion based on ACADEMIC FACTS AND SOURCES. Of course, you may include your own personal opinion, but your opinion should be educated. This paper should not include discussion about police brutality or Eric Garner or Ferguson – here, we are discussing what you think are the root causes of police corruption. In order to get a high score on this paper, you must demonstrate to me that you are able to identify and define how and where an officer frames his moral/ethical beliefs, and what causes him or her to violate them. You should also include the concepts of noble-cause corruption, economic/material corruption, as well as other major concepts reviewed in this course somewhere in your paper, as they are all relevant to the topic question at hand. This research paper should be at least five to seven pages, Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. Be mindful of simply repeating or copying text that you read – review the plagiarism policy listed in the course information section of Blackboard. Furthermore, if you do cite sources, be sure to cite them using proper APA format and include a References section, which does not count towards the page count. You may organize this paper to your liking, but from the instructions, I have already given you a rough outline of how it should look. Again, you should identify and define what contribute to the framework of a police officers\’ moral and ethical beliefs. You can find this information from the readings as well as the powerpoints, or you may conduct your own research. From there, you should identify several causes as to why police officers violate their moral and ethical beliefs. This could be major issues such as inherent racism, the police subculture (the thin blue line), economic/material greed, stressers within a police officers\’ life, or noble-cause corruption. Be sure to define each issue before you discuss, and as always, provide examples to support your argument. This assignment is worth 30 points towards your final grade.
