identify, critically evaluate and apply evidence to clinical practice making recommendations for changes in current practice where appropriate.

Order Description

 Students are required to submit a written assignment (5000 words) (100%)
Additional assignment guidelines:
Aim The aim of the assessment is to enable the student to demonstrate ability to identify, critically evaluate and apply evidence to clinical practice making recommendations for changes in current practice where appropriate. Such recommendations may be to suggest a strategy for change in practice following a review of the evidence.
Each student will present a report within which they review the evidence base for an aspect of his/ her clinical practice, and make recommendations about the need for change as appropriate.
Presentation Students should refer to the general assessment guidelines for the preparation of the written assignment. These are some of the sections you may wish to present in the content:
Executive Summary The report should begin with a summary of its contents and should incorporate the principle recommendations contained in the main report.
Introduction The introduction should give a background to the report identifying the reasons why the student has chosen to consider the particular subject of the report.
Review of the Evidence Students should include three to five empirical articles for review. The papers may include quantitative, qualitative and audit. A systematic review may inform the background to the report but should not be used as a main paper. Please check the papers for suitability with your module leader prior to submission.
9
This section should include comment on the strategy used for finding the evidence including the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and then incorporate an evaluation of the evidence, and conclude the section with a summary of the implications arising from the review.
Review of Current Practice In this section the student will consider current clinical practice in the light of the evidence, identifying where there may be differences between the evidence and practice
Recommendations and Conclusion In this section the student will take into account the implications of the evidence and make recommendations for changes in clinical practice as appropriate. Students are not expected to implement change as part of the assessment. Recommendations could include suggesting a formal audit of practice against established standards, or proposing a piece of research to establish evidence or challenge evidence.
