Focus the topic on bullying in the workplace

Project One to 3-4 pages. That number does NOT include the title page, bibliography, References, or Self Review. It is only for the report text pages.

Focus the topic on bullying in the workplace. School does not apply unless you are referring to the faculty and staff who are victims.

Moreover, your topic is “Bullying in the Workplace,” but your title will be much more specific after you conduct the brainstorming exercise I showed on the board in class. After you conduct your branching exercise–who, what, why, where, when, how–you will gather three key points from your results of that exercise. Form three groups from your branching results by seeing what areas share a common theme. Your branching results can be grouped into three areas that will serve as your research key points. These key points will be the main focus of your research; thus, your sources and field source questions will be based on those three key points.

DO NOT FORM KEY POINTS FROM GENERALIZATIONS. For example, do not make one key point “Definition of Bullying” because that issue can be BRIEFLY defined in your Introduction. Also, it is commonly known by most people what bullying is and where it is done. However, your research will be much more inclusive and beneficial because your key points will address areas that are not addressed simply by a basic Google search. YOUR research will be based on investigations of a narrowed topic from four areas: books, periodicals, peer-reviewed journals, and a field source [expert in the topic].

In your DISCUSSION section, not only will you include a brief conclusion, limitations, and further research study; but you will also offer some feasible solutions to the problem. I hope these notes help you with your Project One research.

List of basic APA format rules:

  1. Use Times New Roman 12-font
  2. Double-space all work
  3. One-inch margins all around
  4. No first or second person pronouns
  5. Prepare a correct APA formatted title page that includes a Running Head.

Title Page[1]

The title page should contain the title of the paper, the author’s name, and the institutional affiliation. Include the page flush left and put the page number flush right at the top of the page. Please note that on the title page, your page header/running head should look like this example:

Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER [first four words]

Pages after the title page should have a running head that looks like this example:

TITLE OF YOUR PAPER

[The easiest way to do this task is to place the running head on the actual first text line of the title page and place it at the left margin. Then put the first four words of the title in the actual header location, and click on the command to start the header after the first page.]

    1. Check in your APA manual or the OWL at Purdue website to see a sample title page.
  1. After the title page, insert your actual document. Here are the sections of the document in this order:
    1. Introduction [no heading is necessary because you will center and repeat the full title before the introduction. Include the purpose, rationale, scope, and results in brief.
    2. Findings section—center and write this word before the actual Findings section.
      1. Your three key points will be in bold, placed at the left margin, and written as four words. Include pertinent information for each key point that you discovered in your research.
      2. You must have APA formatted in-text citations for all information from your research.
    3. Discussion— center and write this word before the actual Discussion section.
      1. Include a brief conclusion and then mention your research limitations.
      2. Also include where further research should continue and why it is recommended.
    4. Prepare a References page in correct APA format.
    5. Conduct a self-review using the Peer Review handout and include it here.
    6. Include your original Annotated Bibliography.
