It deals with the global investment banking issues securities and investment management and its clientele base comprisesthe various financial institutions, the public and private corporations, government agencies as well as the individuals. It was foundedin the year 1869 and its present headquarters are located in the city of New York (www.goldmansachs.com). The firm owes more than 40offices dispersed in different financial centers of the globe. The tagline of the firm says ‘Our client’s interest always comes first’but as one explores the conduct of the firm over the last decade, particularly around the time of 2008 recession, the statement provesto be a complete marketing oxymoron. The evidences suggest that the firm indulged in an utmost disgusting unethical behavior; it sold the clients useless financial productsby yielding them fake promissory advices, initiated a sequence of irresponsible mortgaging among Americans and made them lose theirmoney (www.imf.org). On the other hand it made enormous gains serving their own vested interests of corrupt officials and their greed. However things are changing in recent times as the firm is making deliberate effort to restore the faith of its clients and take socialresponsibility initiatives (www.goldmansachs.com). It is essential for the firms to remember that the core of business ethics isregarding the attainment of excellence and not malfeasance.ReferencesFerrell, O. C., Fraedrich, J., & Ferrel, L. (2009).
