The book online is the 5th edition, but we are required to use the 7th edition textbook. You can still use the 5th edition because they have the same information they are just worded differently. For this assignment read chapter 23 in the textbook, but I also want you to go on my student account and read the power points on chapter 23. Since the textbook editions are different please make sure that you read chapter 23 power points online after you are done reading chapter 23 in the textbook.

When working with LGBT individuals, counselors should examine their own views regarding heterosexuality and determine their impact on work with LGBT clients—way to personalize this perspective is to assume that some of their family, friends, or coworkers may be LGBT. Taking into consideration the characteristics of LGBT individuals,1. Thoroughly discuss how you can provide effective therapy to such a population. Use the following questions to guide your discussion:
1. Why does there continue to be discrimination and prejudice against individuals who are LGBT? Why do males appear to have a greater negative reaction than females on this matter?
2. What issues might emerge in your work with a transgender individual who is going through a transition process? What interventions might be effective?
3. What are some of the stereotypes that people have about LGBT individuals? How might these stereotypes impact your counseling practice?
4. What can you do in your counseling practice to help LGBT youth increase their social support networks?
5. What are your own views of gender dysphoria? How might your views impact your work with clients?
6. What are your reactions to issues facing aging LGBT individuals?1. When you answer these questions please be specific, for example when you answer the first question write it like this “The way I can provide effective therapy to such a population is…”And do the same for the rest of the questions. Be specific enough where I can know that you are answering the questions and I can know exactly what questions you are answering.
