Course Learning Journal Format Worksheet

A journal is also a tool used for self-discovery. A journal records experiences and thoughts over a period of time.
Please use the following format for your course journal. The journal should be considered a “learning journal”; an accumulation of

material that is mainly based in this course. The journal should also show a personal connection with the course content and your own

experiences.
Here are the specific prompts you are to answer:

Wk. 1-This week, write about why you have taken this class. What are your expectations? What did you know about Cognitive Development

before this week? What do you know about Cognitive Development after completing week one? How will the learning from this week help you

to become a better teacher?

Wk 2-What did you know about Socio-Emotional Development before this week? What do you know about Socio-Emotional Development after

completing week two? How will the learning from this week help you to become a better teacher?

Wk. 3-What did you know about Physical Development before this week? What do you know about Physical Development after completing week

three? How will the learning from this week help you to become a better teacher?

Wk. 4-Briefly describe the Action Research process. How will you use Action Research to become a better teacher?

Wk. 5- What can teachers learn by observing other teachers? If you were to video tape yourself teaching, what would you hope to see?

Wk 6-Our textbook contains some journal prompts. These are notated with a book in a square. This week, please respond to page 208

(first and second prompt…paradigms and cultural context).

Wk. 7-This week choose one of the observation techniques we have learned about and discuss how it may be helpful to you as a teacher.
