        While each dropbox has a deadline, each video also has a deadline.

    Each Video Essay is worth 30 points

    Some Specific Requirements:

        At least 2 full pages ñ short essays will receive point deductions

        At least 5 well developed paragraphs ñ short essays will receive point deductions

            Spacing — Remove Space after Paragraph or give more than 2 pages.

 

Video Essays not in COMPLETE MLA format will not be graded and will receive an automatic zero with no opportunity to redo.

Paragraph 1: 7 possible points

Introduction

    Introduce the information you will discuss in the essay ñ both summary and response info

    Mention the video title since that is what you will be writing about in the essay

Paragraph 2 AND Paragraph 3 (or more): 14 possible points

Summary of Content

    Summarize the information you learn from the video. I want to see what you learned. You can also make comments about what you learned as you go through these paragraphs.

    You will summarize someone elseís words and ideas ñ so GIVE THEM CREDIT. Keep it simple; just be sure to give the video credit at least once in each content summary paragraph. For exampleÖAccording to the video, Spirit of the RenaissanceÖ

    If you do not give credit to the video, you will receive zero points for this section.

Paragraph 4: 6 possible points

Response to Content

    Tell me what you think. What did you learn from it, etc.?

    Do NOT tell me if you think the video was entertaining. That is NOT the type of response Iím looking for.

    What was the most important, most interesting, most shocking, etc.?

Paragraph 5: 3 possible points

Conclusion

    For your final paragraph, wrap it all up.       Academic essays require conclusions to summarize what is in your overall essay.
