Decision-Making Flow Chart

Context: The process of moral decision-making is influenced by many factors – personal, cultural, historical and religious. Every person, real or fictitious, makes decisions according to their values and their understanding of right and wrong. The decision making process can be organised into identifiable steps, which may lead to a natural consequence or a number of possible consequences.

Task: From the film “Amazing Grace”, present a flow chart identifying the stages of a character’s decision-making process when confronted with moral problems, illustrating steps, choices and consequences. Include a paragraph to introduce your character, their background and the setting of their story. Explore as much as possible the factors that contribute to their moral stance – family background, cultural context, personal opinions and feelings, and religious belief. Use evidence from other sources.
