ESSAY ASSIGNMENT
Your cause and effect and persuasive essays and research paper will build upon each other, all an examination of an uncommon controversy and the various views/beliefs about it.
What makes a topic controversial? It must be a topic of common interest to a group which garners strong opinions, especially diverging opinions about it. The topic may lead to debates or even to heated arguments.
Specific Criteria
For this assignment, the topic you choose must be academically appropriate and the research available must also be academically appropriate. Your topic must be an “uncommon” controversy, which means topics such as gun laws, freedom of religion, medical marijuana, abortion, cell phone laws, use of technology in general, (just to name a few…) are off limit. It is in your best interest to come up with a less common topic.
In addition, the topic must have more than three different opinions about it. Otherwise, you will be unable to follow the assignment directions.
