1. After reading the chapter, what can you tell me about Augustine’s mother and father? Tell me about who they are, how they each treat Augustine, and what he seems to think about them. (DO NOT USE GOOGLE FOR THIS… it will be obvious because you’ll end up with info that is not from this particular chapter!)

2. Focus on Augustine’s story about the pear tree that he retells in this chapter. Write a basic summary of the story. Then, give me your initial interpretation of it. In other words, tell me what happens in the story and then tell me why you think Augustine tells it.
