This assessment is comprised of three parts.

(c) Your understanding of the different skills/qualities that this organisation

(a) What skills and experiences do you think you have to offer?
(b) Have you identified skills/experience gaps that would make you a more attractive candidate to this organisation?
(c) What could you do over the next two years to fill any gaps to make you more employable?
Option A
Full service UK/international City law firm Bonny & Clyde LLP is offering first year law students the opportunity to secure a 2 week summer internship. You will have the opportunity to spend a week observing solicitors in two of the firm’s departments.

About the Internship
During your internship you will sit in two of the following departments:
Commercial; Corporate; EU; Crime (general/fraud); Banking and Finance; Employment; Public law; Real Estate, Litigation; International Arbitration
You will have the opportunity to shadow and assist solicitors with tasks such as:
• Proof reading legal documents
• Sitting in on client meetings and taking notes
• Drafting letters of advice to clients
• Conducting legal research
• Working with the team of interns on a commercial/business project that, at the end of your internship, will conclude with a presentation to a panel of solicitors.
About You (“Why You”)
Your covering letter should:
(a) Demonstrate your interest in Bonny & Clyde LLP
(b) Indicate the two departments you would like to gain experience in and explain why
(c) Using examples, highlight at least 2 skills that show you to be a suitable applicant for the internship
(d) Be no more than one side of A4 and follow the format of a legal covering letter (300-400 words)
(e) Applications must be submitted together with your supporting statement (600 – 700 words)
(f) While your CV will not be marked for the purposes of the assessment, there should be clear evidence in your letter/supporting statement linking your experiences to your application letter and / or reasoning set out in the supporting statement.
Option B
A modern set of chambers, Hail & Sham are they are offering first year law students the opportunity to secure a 2 week mini pupillage. You will have the opportunity to spend a week observing barristers in two of the set’s core areas of work.

About the Internship
During your internship you will sit in two of the following divisions:
Commercial; Criminal (general and fraud); Property and Public law; Insurance
You will have the opportunity to shadow and assist barristers with tasks such as:
• Proof reading legal documents
• Attending conferences with the client and instructing solicitor
• Sitting behind counsel at court and taking notes
• Conducting legal research
• Working with the team of mini pupils you will prepare a criminal case for trial, representing either the Crown or the defendant. At the end of your mini pupillage there will be a mock trial during which your team will have opportunity to make its case. The bench will be made up of junior barristers from Hail & Sham.
