Part 3: Assessment Instrument Comparison
Select at least three instruments used to assess young children, including ELLs, preferably
those used at your local school, district, or program/agency. All three instruments need to have
at least one developmental, pre-academic, or academic area in common (e.g., expressive
language). For each instrument, include the following:
a) Name of the tool and general purpose; availability in other languages
b) Brief description of technical data for each of the instruments
c) Identify and comment on any possible cultural bias in the exam.
d) Purpose for its use by local school, district
e) Suggested accommodations to meet the needs of ESOL children
f) etc. You must use the template in Appendix A. [A copy is provided in the
“Assignments” section and in “Course Content” in your Blackboard Course, as well.]
