Give detailed plan of your research paper. It gives you a “road map” of what your research is about, why it is important and how you are going to go to argue your points. Importantly, this proposal is an important opportunity for you to receive vital feedback that will inform your final essay. It requires some preplanning and preliminary research. You should include the following in your proposal:

Description/justification of your topic and question. Why is this question important to consider?
Brief argument statement where you formulate what your tentative argument/position in the paper will be.
Preview/Structure of Argument that includes what steps you will take to answer your question. This includes locating sub-arguments, connecting theory to empirical cases, and detailing what logical sequence will you take in structuring your argument.
Provide preliminary list of sources in an annotated bibliography format (not counting in the word count). This includes the complete citation of the author along with a brief paragraph summarizing the argument made in the cited piece and how it is relevant to your essay.
