Composition

Many of the ancient civilizations’ medical literature lists plants & herbs that were used to “cure” certain medical ailments. While we laugh at these treatments, modern science is taking a new look at how effective some of these plants/herbs may be. Write a paper in which you examine how one or two of these plants played a role in ancient medicine & are now playing a role in modern medical investigation and treatment.

This paper requires research!! Begin with data bases in the VU Library. Access the library home page, click on “find articles”, then click on “VU Search”. Put in up to three key search words, click the categories (health and medicine, science, etc., then click the search button. All available data bases are searched and the results will be brought up when the search is “Complete”.

You MUST print copies of the articles to include with drafts & final paper. Failure to include articles is a “F”. Failure to include a References/Works Cited page is a “F”.

2. The paper is 4-5 pages in length, excluding the Title, Abstract, & Works Cited/Reference pages

3. Paper must have a Title page & a Reference/Works Cited page; APA papers must have an Abstract, which does not count in required 3-4 pages of the paper.

4. Paper must have your last name and page number on all pages after Title page( APA must follow those guidelines); must have one inch margins on all sides, & use 12 point font

5. You must use quotes, paraphrase, and summarize in the paper. Remember to cite immediately after a direct quote, and at the end of paraphrasing or summarizing, using the appropriate citation style (APA or MLA)

6) Must include copies of articles in folder

7) Final paper submission folder must have all drafts, self edits, peer edits, articles, and copy of paper on a flash drive
